1994 pontiac trans am LT1 5.7L wont start?

bought it off a guy who said when he was driving one day it started missing and when he parked it, it never stared back up completely. it had sat for 4 years. When we bought it he told us it was a bad fuel pump. So we installed a high performance fuel pump, but still didnt work so we put in new gas to see if it'd start then pumped all the bad fuel out. still didnt work then the car starter blew and we are currently in the process of repairing that is there anything thing that could be wrong with comments/answers would be much apperciated
