I have a 1994 mercury sable that likes to shut off and not start. This has happened lots of times in the last few years. I read something about the fuel reset switch but refers to owners manual , which there isn't one and there is two red bottons on the side of the inside of the trunk and what looks like a reset button set down in side a opening. Not sure if it was stuck or I reset it but didn't start the car. Each time I've not been able to start it , I've wiggled wires and luckily it started. One time a mechanic did something with the silonoid and it started. The wires I've wiggled usually , I think are on the alternator but not real sure. Now it is making a noise like it does when it is running but isn't running. Like an engine sound, and a grrr noise when it is shut off. But doesn't ern ern or make the turning over noises. Well I hope I explainted it enough and that helps.
