1994 FORD F150 GAS Return Problem?

My F150 has dual gas tanks and I think the fuel pump is bad in the front tank so I use the rear tank only and when I drive it,[adding gas when needed] part of the gas returns to the front tank and after so long the front tank is full. What is the problem and how can I fix the return without fixing the fuel pump. CAN ANYONE HELP PLEASE!!!!!!! THANKS, CHRIS
