1994 Dodge Intrepid glove box won't open, how do i fix it?

the car is a 94 dodge intrepid. the handle has a little leg (or piece) that i believe it's supposed to push down on another piece of the door and get it opened. It's not doing that it just moves it to the side and comes down right by it. If someone knows how to fix this let me know. Thank you. (the handle still has some pull to it, and it returns when i pull it)
 
take a screw driver and lightly pry down on it when your trying to open it and it will come open,once you get it down replace the latch on the glove box,you may even find that something has gotten caught up in it causing it not to open,but prying on it gently wont break it,it will help open it,good luck.
