the air is blowing fine on all speeds, but not very hot, sometimes luke warm, sometimes cold. If your just sitting at a idle it will eventually get warmer. Not losing any coolant, but if you have been driving for a long time you can smell coolant when you get out of the van. It is not smelling in the van or blowing coolant on inside of windows. any ideas?
no it warms up normal and doesn't over heat

are the hoses all warming up after the thermostat opens? also are you hearing a scraping noise from the center of the end of the motor where the belt is? usually have two controls. one controlling the blower motor speed and the other controlling the temp of the heater core as the fan blows over it. may be a problem with the cable from the second one. initial thought was thermostat or h2o pump but it seems that you have ruled them out.

the heater core may be getting stopped up on it,you might need to try and flush it out along with the entire cooling system and see if that improves it,usually when they get some age on them they will get blockage in the heater core and that causes the heater core to block the coolant from going through it fast enough to give you a good heat, good luck with it,and merry x-mas.

sounds like you need to get a new heater core. even though you don't smell it inside doesn't mean it's not bad. with the year of yours flushing the system won't work either. just replace the core.
