1994 Chevy Caviler, headlight just turn off, then come back on, then flicker?

Have a beater with 149k on it, 4 cyl. auto. seems to have some electrical issues. the wipers were the first to go, would only worked on high, i noticed the elec. connector at the wiper motor was melted, so i figured i would need to replace it, well the wipers started to work again. Then the headlights decided to just turn off, very un-nerving, the fist time i was driving and i wiggled the stalk, i may have tried to put them back to low beam and turned the lights off then back on and they came back on and stayed on. then the other night it happened to my daughter not sure what she did but i guess they came back on then flickered a couple times. What do you think it is, and how to test for it?
 
CHECK all your grounding points..Should have 4 all up..1 going to an inner guard..1 coming off the
engine,going to firewall or down by the suspension.1 off the firewall going to the transmission or the
mounting bracket for it..1 coming off fuel tank or fuel pump housing,going to earth..Sounds like the
1 going to the inner guard is loose,or dirty or both..Clean & re tighten should fix this problem..
Suggest you Google the wiring diagram,for your motor if all else fails..
