If the battery voltage is low it can cause all sorts of problems with the engine computer. If your battery is at all weak, try a new or almost new battery or a jump start from a running vehicle.

You did not say if the engine is turning when you try to start it. If it's not turning you probably need a new starter/solenoid or a starter relay switch.

If it is turning and not starting you need to check if the spark plugs are firing. Pull off a plug cap, remove the plug, put the plug into the plug cag, position it so the plug is 1/2 inch from the grounded engine block and crank the engine in a dark place (if possible) to see sparks flowing from the plug to the engine.

You really should get yourself a Haynes Manual. It is very helpful for problems with older cars. You can buy them for $20 at Autozone.
Good luck!
