1993 ford ranger wont move in gear.?

i have a 1993 ford ranger 4 cylinder 5 speed, when i put it in gear it doesn't move. it will start up and everything but its like the gears dont even touch. Can someone help
 
i assume that its a manual box?
is the clutch working? ( the engine will drop revs or stall when the clutch is released whilst in gear)
if it is fully functional then make sure ur handbrake isnt jammed on and make sure the stick hasnt become detatched from the box (just wiggle and pull it you should be able to tell). and last of all try taking off in 2nd or third and if these work but first doesnt you may have spat 1st gear and your due for a reco box
