1993 Ford F150 Front Break Problems?

My dad has an 1993 Ford F150, and the front end has been making an scraping sound. We checked behind both tires, and both the castle nuts where tight, and all the wheel bearings have been replaced and are tight too. After we checked wheel bearings, the breaks went out. There are no holes in the break lines, there is break fluid in the master cylinder, new rubbers, and new wheel bearings. Sadly we don't have enough money to get the engine rebuilt.

Re building the engine (and associated cost) doesn't have anything to do with the brakes, You can get a free diagnostic at Monro or Cole for either brakes/engine.

"We checked behind both tires"

Did you check the brake pads? usually the scraping sound is metal to metal because the pads are worn.

if your scraping sound is when you apply the breaks, pads are most likely worn out. look for groves in the rotors, look at the pad, they are
inside the caliper, you should have space between the steel part of the pads and the rotor, maybe even as much as 1/2 inch. it they are almost touching the rotor, you need pads and probably new rotors if they have deep grooves.
