I have a 1993 chevrolet cavalier 2.2 OHV 4 cylinder. It accumulates the strong smell of gasoline inside the car (but, not under the hood) I recently replaced the injector O-ring seals as i have been told this is a common problem on the side fed injectors used on these cars, I thought I had stopped the problem.
the smell is very potent and only seems to come through the A/C vents when they are set to re-circulate, leading me to believe that the fumes are travelling through the vacuum lines into the dash when the car is off. I can't see or smell any leaks outside the car only when it is parked when the windows are closed. is it possible that fuel is leaking through the injectors when the car is off and evaporating into the car through the vacuum lines?

is it normal for fuel pressure to leak into the intake when the car is off?

there are definitely no visible fuel leaks and the smell is unmistakably gasoline.

any help would be greatly appreciated, and thanks in advance.

The problem with the injectors leaking was not the o-rings but the injector it self.you need to really ck the injectors again because they tend to only leak at certain times.

well if your injecters were leaking into the clynders when you start it up it will smoke white out of the tail pipe check your fuel line under the car also the o ring leak going in the fuel rail check fuel filter some times they rust up remember some fuel lines are plastic good luck
