my 1993 chevy 1500 will randomly not start. i had my battery alternator and starter tested and they all passed. when put the key in the dash comes on for the first click, they i go for ignition and nothing happens. then sometimes after a few tries it will start. or when im holding it down finally it will start. and sometimes it will not start at all for a day. sometimes i have to wait longer. any suggestions? should i start by getting a new starter?
thanks

Sounds like a starter to me. It could be an ignition switch also. Usually the starter will "click" a few times and then will finally take off.

bad grounding Faulty ignition chip. Heat soak or a bad coil bad
Sounds like the solenoid it should be have been tested with the starter if it has a solenoid on the fender it could be that. Go back to basics and check all your connections for corrosion. you can even try grounding the engine directly to the battery see if the grounding is bad. other than that check fuel Check the spark Pick up a Chilton's manual

its either ur starter or ur ignition switch.......

the next time it wont start crawl under neath and tap on the starter housing.......tap firmly but don't beat it to death about 3-5 good whacks........if the truck then immediately fires up its a starter problem...if not it is mots likely the switch......

also could b losse/dirty/bad cables....so check those as well
