Ok, here is the deal. I just picked up a 1992 Ford Taurus with 49k miles on it. The car is in perfect condition and has been garaged by an old lady who got put into a nursing home. No bug chips in the hood or glass and the brake pedal shows no wear (if it had 149k on it the brake pedal should show wear as your shoes would wear the rubber out). Seats and door jams areas are perfect with no signs of high usage. There is nothing on this car that shows signs of having 149k miles on it.
My question is why would the brakes/rotors and struts need to be replaced on this car if it only had 49k miles on it? Could this wear out in less than 49k miles? Or could this car possibly have 149k miles on it? It does not smoke starts like a champ and the paint and body are in mint condition. I used to do body work for about 10 years and this car shows no signs of ever being wreaked! The owner swears it only has 49k on it the car fax report checks out fine too.
Thanks!
