I recently purchased this car. The owner told me it requires a special antifreeze fluid. I have gone to autozone and was told they only have for cars 1997 and up. I want to know what fluid this is and how much would it cost to flush out the coolant and put new antifreeze in there.

well I wouldn't know about "special" coolant. that sounds kind of strange. Ive always used Peak or Prestone 50/50 coolant and its been just fine. i have used it in vehicles such as 1977 K5 Blazer, 1986 K5 Blazer,1999 Ford F250 Super duty, and even a 1998 Ford expedition, and even a 1961 Mercedes Benz.

If I were you, or not too knowledgeable about cars/antifreeze etc. I would take it to a jiffy lube, or some garage/mechanic shop and have them tell you a price and they can do it for you. but you would have to talk to them about "special" coolant.

I think it would be 40-50$ TOPS.

your old 92 car is run on freon which is obsolete now. you can still get it dont get me wrong .but to charge your system up. would cost about 30.00 dollors a pint. its no biggie to switch over to r134a . its just a retro fit kit that costs about 12 bucks , and then your coolant is only like 5 bucks a pint. a system is usually one gallon so four pint s make a half and 8 make a gollon your talking about 50.00 bucks to charge up your system. forget the old freon. go with r134a coolant you can buy retrofit kit at any auto parts store and do it yourself.
