1991 Suzuki Katana. no spark in two cylinders, signal generator?

I have no spark in 2 plugs not the ignition coils cause when i swapped them around the opposites worked and didn't work. One reply before said it was probably the signal generator another said maybe the CDI. How can I test which one it is for sure or can anyone be 100% certain it is one or the other? and if so How?
