1991 kawasaki vulcan 750 exhaust modification question?

on a 1991 vulcan, there is a pre-muffler, or 'goat' or 'goat belly', as some would call it. basically a baffle from the pipes before the mufflers. my question is: if i remove it, would i have to do any other adjustments to the bike (ei. carbs, idle, etc) or can i just remove the part, put in a purchaseable bypass, and she be ready to ride? id like the part out, but if it involves more extensive tweeking to the bike also, i may hold off right now. any ideas or suggestions in this are most appreciated. thanks in advance
