i have a 1991 honda civic hatchback 1.6L non vtec engine.
now that its getting cold its having trouble starting
first off i have some wires that were pinched.. messing with the timing of my fuel injectors.
by that i mean if i floor the gas, the engine just idles down to the point where it almost shuts off and sounds like its burping..
and it doesnt just slowly idle down.. when i try flooring it, it goes down right away
this problem should be fixed when i get the wires redone
BUT THATS NOT THE MAIN PROBLEM
for my engine,
it takes a while to crank over
when i turn the key in the ignition i have to hold it for about 10 seconds and nothing happens(engine dont start) so i have to turn it again for about another 10 seconds and then it finally will start but at first, the idle is so low that the car will shake. then i have to sit and wait for it to idle up to normal and for the engine to warm up (about 5 minutes)
this only happens when the engine is cold.. if its been running for a while and i turn it off and restart it a little later it starts up just normal.. so it only wants to start when its warmed up
does anybody have any ideas of why it wont start when its cold???
could it be my radiator/ radiator coolant/temp sensor/alternator????
my friend has the same car/ engine and his starts right up in this cold weather
10 POINTS TO ANYONE WHO CAN HELP ME SOLVE THIS PROBLEM OR GIVE ME IDEAS TO WHAT THE PROBLEM COULD BE!!!!
thanks
ps. when it does start normal i hear a screathing sound for like a second
also my battery has been recharged
dont want to take it to a mechanic... i have my reasons
let me know if you need to know anything else
