put it in reverse? on my 1991 ford taurus sho. its a manual transmission. when i first push in the clutch and put it in reverse it makes a grinding noise. but if i take it out and put it back in reverse without letting out the clutch it doesnt do it. What could this be and how expensive about?

Your clutch is wearing out. To repair it will probably cost up to 1000. In the mean time try this:

pump the clutch 2 or 3 times THEN put it into reverse. remember to step on the clutch all the way.

If still grinding then try this:

step on the clutch and don't let go, put it into any other gear, while the foot is still stepping on the clutch, then try to put it into reverse and go. If that works then you can just do that for a few thousand miles. But be warned it means you need to get your transmission fixed.
