Hi, I have a 1991 Ford Ranger 4.0L V6 4WD that seems to not be firing in at least one cylinder, but probably more. At idle the engine noticeably misses at least one cylinder consistently, and at cruising you can feel it missing making it feel like the truck is bucking, but inconsistently. Another observation is that the voltage will fluctuate between about 14.6 and 15.8 at about the same frequency as it takes either the engine or alternator to make one revolution, approximately that speed. I know this is not normal but I'm not sure if it could be related or not. The alternator is new and the battery is a newer optima red top. Light bulbs will noticeably dim and flash as the voltage fluctuates. There is no EGR valve on this engine so I ruled that out. Haven't checked compression thus far but I suspect the engine is in good shape.
Was recently tuned-up: New plugs and wires.

had the same problem. wait till dark fire eng. look at spark wires, shut of eng move wire that is shorting.Replace wires with hig

check the spark plug coils etc look at all the things that make your engine fire sparkplugs wire sparkplugs etc. or it a bad lifters, piston rings. smell your oil first if it smells like gas alot then it lifter or rings
