1991 Chevy silverado current draw problem/voltage drop issues?

I have a 1991 chevy silverado 305 5.0L. I was driving when all of the sudden my voltage gauge dropped to 9v and my stereo turned off. Immediately after, my gauge went back to normal and everything came back on. Later that day my gauge dropped again and my temp, oil pressure, and fuel gauge started going crazy and I have barely enough power to roll my windows up now and the stereo can barely power up as well as my headlights are barely bright. I replaced my alternator and its testing fine and I have an optima red top battery for starting. The truck fires up immediately and runs fine but the only thing that is really bugging me is when I drive my gauges sometimes go back to normal but when I park and roll up my windows or use any kind of current draw, my truck drops down to low voltage and stays there and acts as if it is going to die out until I run it for a few miles. Does anyone know anything I can try? I have had this truck for at least 6 years and this is the first time anything like this has happened.
