HI,
The cam sensor fell off and crack the lower timing gear. I took it to a GM dealership they replaced both timing gears the chain and the sensor. but now there is a winding noise. I took it back they said the noise will go away in about two weeks. They said the noise is because the parts are new, they need to break in.
The noise did get quite but never went away. its been a little over a year since the repair. Now the noise has gotten really loud. After I have driven it a little bit, the noise will stop a few minutes from time to time, When i get on the highway and get the car above 60MPH the noise stops. I would like to know what the noise is, and how to stop it.
The GM dealership that did the repair is now out of business, and none of the other GM dealerships will honor the warranty. The repair had a three year warranty.
I have asked a few shops what the sound is and they will not tell me. they want to charge me from $150 to $300 just to tell me what it is.
