Today, I was getting my car washed and when the cycle was over, I put the car in drive and gave it slight gas, but no movement. After several more attempts I realized I cannot be THIS inept at automotive concepts and put it in neutral and pushed it out of the wash. I got back in, still nothing from drive, or any other gear. I just give gas and it acts like its in neutral. I sat pondering with the car in park and idling. After about 3 minutes I thought id try again, much to my amazment, car begins moving again for about 30 feet and then the transmission disengaged like it lost grip. I sat for another period of time, and again the same thing happened, the car would go for a certain amount of feet, and then no more, the transmission seemed like it just disengaged again. Each time, the little bits of travel got shorter and shorter. Last It was moved was when I finally had it towed to the shop and they put it in drive for a bit, and reverse to park it. Im not understanding this, and just wanted to see if anyone had any idea what was going on. For the 10 miles I drove it before the wash, it seemed to be shifting normally, and as far as I could tell, there were no strange or unorthodox noises, it just simply disengaged. Its like a cable is loose or something.
