1989 s-10 chevy blazer water pump, thermostat or ?

1989 s-10 chevy blazer, yesterday check gauges light went on, poped the hood and saw that all engine coolent was shooting into the resoviour tank and boiling. Drove it home real quick and all coolant had drained back into radiator. Was told it was the thermostate and by another person said it was the water pump.n Turned it on today and saw that the fan was not spinning, a hose was in the way blocking it from spining ( last week put on a new serpitine belt and i guess i forgot to move the hose back out of the way of the fan. Have been driving it for a week like this but only for no more than a half hour at a time driving. So i suppose that was the problem? that the fan was not spinning cooling the radiator? or if one of the other causes is true then which on and how do i know if its the water pump or thermostate?... thanks
 
to test if it is your thermostat located and take out your thermostat and boil some hot water then drop it in if it opens up when dropped in then it is good if not change it but to be honest i woud change it anyway being your truck is a 89. did you move the hose if not then do that now!! if yes is the fan spiining when hot? you have to let your truck heat up before it will kick on if i was there i could make it turn on by unplugging a sensor but im not. if it is not turning on you could have a bad sensor or check your fuses. as for the water pump that is last you want to change most expensive. but if the fan spins and you replace the thermostat then yes unfortunatly it is your water pump.. good luck
