When i first try to start my car all it does is crank over. I usuaslly have to prime the fuel pump at least 15 times and let it crank for at least 30 seconds. Sometimes it will sound like its backfiring out the intake and all this white smoke will come out of the intake. Then if it starts i have to let it get hot just to put it in gear (its an auto) and then it stutters alot and shifts really early. But once it drives around for a while it will start right up no problems. Could it be a fuel problem like a stuck open injector or crappy fuel pump or clogged filter.......When i first start it up and put it in gear and drive it will bog down and shift really early. And i checked and there is sticky brown stuff on the manifold. Its mainly around the seals on the intake side. they look wet and nasty. And when i cycle the fuel pump should it change sound as if its trying harder? And do you know whats involved in changing out the transmission filter......I changed the fuel pump today...that didnt help the problem either...ANY help would be great! thanks

It sounds like you have a vac leak at the intake manifold. Try spraying the joint with water repellant spray such as WD40 or CRC with the engine running. If the engine runs better or differently as it sucks in the fluid, you have a leak.
