I have a 89 Chevy K1500 and the four wheel drive won't work. It don't even seem like it will try it 4 High, but in 4 low it makes a whining noise and it still won't work. It seems to get louder the faster I go. Could it be the hubs going out? It has automatic hubs on it. The 4 wheel drive shaft kicks in, so I think the transfer case is working. I put a newer solenoid on the front axle from a 95 in it, and that still didn't do anything. It was different looking than the one that was in it, but the guys at NAPA said it would work. What could be causing it to make the whining noise? Please help me!
It's only has a 3 inch body lift on it. How much did all that cost? I just had to put a new motor in it, it's kind of been a pain in the butt! lol
