I have a 1988 Toyota pickup with automatic transmission, 22RE engine. I am needing to find out what is the model number for the transmission ... i.e. A340 , A44DL A46DE, A440H auto tranmission models. How do I find out what model my transmission is? Is it stamped somewhere on the transmission itself? If so, where do I look for the stamp to find out what transmission model number I have?

Thanks.
Actually, I am looking for the model number of the automatic transmission itself - not the model number for the car or engine number, but the TRANSMISSION model number. The automatic transmissions came in different flavors, and I am needing to know the exact model number of transmission that I have, so that I can buy the correct part for my transmission.

A43D is what my book says.

A43D

This transmission model is not electronically controlled. It is instead controlled by throttle position and also by a governor.

Applications:

* 1981 Toyota Celica Supra
* 1982-1985 Toyota Celica
* 1985-95 4x2 Toyota Pickup with 2.4L I4

Gear ratios: 1st 2.452 2nd 1.452 3rd 1.000 4th 0.688 Reverse: 2.212
