Just to let everyone know in advance, I am a girl and know absolutely NOTHING about motorcycles except they have a chain and are fun to ride on.
Today while going to the gas station to get gas, my boyfriend used the gas tank key to open the gas tank like he usually does. Well, today it wouldn't unlock. Wen kept bending and twisting and turning and all we did was bend the key. It opened fine 2 days ago.
My boyfriend noticed that the key is "balding" (he explained it to me as the key was getting very blunt. It looked like it was shedding to me).
We put some lubricant in the lock (I think it was called Jig-A-Loo? Or Jig-a-Lube?) but it still didn't work.
Where do you guys think we can get a replacement for the Gas Tank Lock? And how much do you think it costs? Or do you know how we could possibly fix this? Do you think getting a copy of the key would be helpful, since it would be pointy and sharp?
I've been looking everyone on yellowpages.com for locksmiths in Atlanta, GA that do bike keys, but no one does them!!
If any of you have experienced this before or have any information, please, let me know!!
