1988 dodge dakota hard starting?
i have a 1988 dodge dakota and the damn thing is hard to start. engine cranks fine but it takes a while for it to actually catch

did a complete tune-up - did nothing, still hard to start
worst when outside temps are high
does it in cold weather as well, but not as bad

can anyone help me?

I have one so try this next time you start it. Before you turn the Key press the gas petal to the floor for maybe a second or 2 the let off and try to start it.

Cold start injector working?

Fuel injector leakage (check pressure on fuel line, then shut car off, let sit for 5 mins, and make sure it doesn't drop over 10 lbs of pressure).

Fuel pump going out?

Fuel pressure regulator going out?

Clogged fuel filter?

Your fuel check valve could be draining fuel back to the tank when it's parked . Try cycling the key about 5 times before starting it next time. Other than that mabey your engine coolant temp. (ect) sensor is out of range causing it to over or under fuel when starting. Check the resistance value of this sensor when it is stone cold. Also run some redline fuel system cleaner (whole bottle) through the next tank of gas to remedy possible leaking fuel injectors...does it smell like gas when it finally starts up?
