I have 1987 Jeep Cherokee 2.5L, 4cyl, TBI, 5 speed that has no spark at the ignition coil??

I was driving in heavy stop and go traffic on the freeway and my truck died ( at first I thought that I had just killed it, ) It started right back up. But then about 5 miles down the road it died on me again, I had it towed home.

I had a friend with mechanic experience look at it and he said it had no spark at the coil, ( long story short ) I have replaced the ignition coil, Ignition control module, crank position sensor. The fuel pump is engaging and the TBI checks out fine! She turns over very strong just wont fire!

What could it be?? PLEASE any suggestions are helpful!

Thanks for your time!!
I have had two new coils and there is power going to the coil. Any other ideas?

Thank yoiu!

Check your fuse box for bad fuses. Also, check your ignition switch for possible shorts. Also, check the wiring harness from the starter motor to the fuse box. Also, remove and clean the battery cables at BOTH ends. Replace them if there is corrosion running through the conduit. Replace distributor cap with Borg Warner unit, with copper (not aluminum) contacts. Examine center contact within distributor cap for signs of total disintegration. Remove factory plugs and install a set of Bosch Fusion or Platinum single points. Check wiring harness at fuel tank for signs of grounding out, or rusted through wiring. Check attachment point where the coil feed wires connect. Good Luck!!

If you replaced the coil and there is no spark from it still, Then you need to check that there is power going to the coil in the first play. Check to se if there is a fuse for this system your owners manual should tell you. I you have power going to coil you might have replaced the coil with another faulty coil. check to make sure there power going to the coil first.
