I have a 1986 Toyota. The previous owner rebuilt the motor 30K ago. Then blew a head gasket. I fixed the issue with the head gasket by having the head checked out and shaved. I replaced all the required gaskets.
Now sometimes when I drive it and stop and turn off the motor, when I try to restart the pickup it will crank with out starting. I have to crank and crank and crank and sometimes it barely fires just when I let go of the key. I have done this for an hour and just out of the blue it will fire and start up like nothing was wrong.
The last time this happened it would not start for about 30 minutes and then fired up. I drove it for quarter mile and then it quit. I was being towed with the key on and in gear and the pickup still would not start until we towed it about 6 miles......
Any help is much appreciated.....
