I have a 1986 Toyota MR2, the ignition coil has gone bad a few times. Last time I replaced it I also replaced the distributor cap, spark plugs, and plug wires. The ignition coil is on its way out again, but the car will not start now without a jump. The battery is new and tests fine, when the car is being jumped it idles fine, but as soon as the jump is removed it idles very poorly. If the car is turned off it will not start again without another jump. Why wont it start on its own, whats wrong with the idle, and why does the coil keep dieing?
