What do you folks think I got this bike a few weeks ago, and Im looking to do something to it. It just seems like it needs something. It has pipes, and a fresh coat of paint (black) compared to the maroon it was. and the flames on the tank i think are a great eye catcher to this "almost vintage bike" lol. I am adding the drag bars as we speak. But I was hoping maybe you guys could help me with some ideas. Someone told me Engine/crash bars would be nice. I think I might go with these Crash bars
Im also thinking about getting some new pegs and maybe some new directionals? but dont know what would look good. also I would like to add maybe a vertical side mount plate, but have no idea where to mount it to. here are some pics. your input and critisim is always appreciated
Thanks all
oh and one more thing if anyone knows if the chrome radiator cover fits the vs700 from the vs750 series?

The Intruder is a very narrow bike, so I like to highlight that. To me, things like crash bars belong on fat bikes like the Volusia. For more leg room, I added some MC Enterprises highway pegs.

I like to make an Intruder even more narrow. Drag bars look good, and I like to either remove the rubber mounts on the stock turn signals to make them narrower, or put on the smallest turn signals I can find. A side mount plate mount goes under the head of the lower shock bolt on the left side of the bike, which lets you loose that dirtbike-looking plate mount and light.

Removing the sissy bar changes the look of the bike a lot, making it more sporty. I removed mine and put on a stock S50 seat , and it looks like a whole new bike. I'll see if I have a picture somewhere...a Corbin Gunfighter seat looks cool too.

But my favorite mods for the Intruder improve the bike's performance- Progressive shocks in the back, Progressive fork springs in the front, and Metzeler or Dunlop tires front and rear. This improves the bike's handling and ride considerably.

As for your radiator cover, I believe the 700 and 750 use the same radiator, but the 800 radiator is bigger.

this is something what Im aiming for slim directionals (going to add clear lens) I think The rear brake I'll leave. I will look up the stock S50 or the corbin gunfighter. I t seems the Mustang seat is not liked much lol. the shocks and fork springs I will have to look into $$$$ lol. sissy bar kit is already ordered LOL But otherwise I like the bike. It is a little more narrow, It was a choice between the 86 VS700 and the 03 VTX750 older bike won lol
thanks for your help Doc

I just found an 2006 S50 seat brand new for 35.00 a friend had it in his garage will that fit?

The heavy duty are definately the best choice. I use the stock 12.5 inch length in heavy duty for the best ride, ability to ride 2 up, and best cornering. Others have had good results with the 12-inch heavy duty, to lower the back a little at the expense of some ground clearance and bottoming over large bumps when 2-up. Avoid the 11.5-inch- they look cool, but ride like crap, and you will need travel limiters because the bike will bottom out over even moderate bumps 1-up.

Happy Mother's Day!

I just bought one of these bad boys yesterday - it needs some love.

Mainly, it needs a new cooling fan. Any suggestions on where I can pick one up?

Thanks all!

i recently bought a 1986 intruder...however it seems that i have some sort of added gismo a vacume pump of some kind...or so all of the fellas that have taken a look at it.... the advice is as always its not broke dont touch it...

I am just curious as i would love to add a drivers back rest, but with the seat that is currently on it....there is no place for such an animal to go....anyone have an idea??? and well the back is all of abotu 4 inches which makes it unnerving for me riding as a passenger.....

I share it..until i am liscenced I figured it made no sense for it to just sit there... anyone who wishes to see what i am speaking abotu ill send you pictures...i just havent got a clue as to how to attach pics here. Im at yahoo with all lower case letters and no spaces
