Hi,

The car is a 1986 Pontiac Trans Am. I have this strange problem. I'll try to explain what's happening with me, but excuse my English I'm not fluent in it.

If running slowly in the City, in normal traffic, the car is not overheating. The fan start (at 222 i think) and keep working as normal (by switching on/off with the temp go over/under 222). Even if I start the AC, the heat slightly move up but still under the middle (around 235 or something like that). So i have No Problem with heat when driving in the City and the behavior of the coolant system looks Normal.

This Normal behavior still in case also when i drive on the highway, even if i drive Fast (around 70mph) for hours.

But what really makes me crazy is that the car overheat ONLY when driving up a Hill (at low OR high speed) .. the temperature go to 240 witch never happens in the city or the highway .... i continue to drive the hill and the temp move up slowly .. up and up and up ... as long as you're driving up!! if there is a flat ground after the hill the temp would go down slowly to normal. but if the Hill is long and that's the case in my traveling to the mountains in my country, even that strong fan don't force the temp to go down.

Why it overheat only in driving up a hill or mountain, and works normal on a flat road?

I would mention that i cleaned the radiator recently, and changed its cap also. and the fan is working normally.

Regards
