I was driving this car and then when I got home we smelled something burning well smoke was coming from right rear tire. The car feels like its being held back by the brakes when I drive it not driving it now. Hubby checked emergency brake not on any ideals on this.

If your car has rear drum brakes, a broken return spring or a leaking or stuck brake cylinder.
If the car has all rotors, a stuck piston in the brake caliper.
Take it to an auto repair shop and get it fixed. This is a dangerous problem. The wheel could lock up at any time and cause an accident.

most likely cause is the wheel cylinder freezing stuck and keeping the brakes "on" on the r rear.
next would be parking brake mechanism being stuck inside the drum holding the brake on.
the wheel cylinder is the most likely culprit, i'd really recommend doing both sides as well as new shoes and hardware.
the parts themselves will cost less than 50 from autozone/o'riley's type place, and the job will be less than 200 (in st louis anyway)

the cable could be rusted or inside the brake drum something could be broke or rusted or both you need to remove both rear drums to check the linings on the brake shoes.
