I have a1985 Ford Mustang LX 4cyl. 4 spd man. transmission. My problem is the heat. I have flushed out the heater core, checked the control box and vac. lines and everything is fine. But I have NO heat. It gets luke warm at best and I freeze in the winter while driving. What could I be overlooking? It came factory with A/C. This one really has me stumped!
I replaced the thermostat, and there is collant circulating through the heater core.

Feel the coolant lines going to the core. If they're both hot the core and circulation are fine. That means it's the blend door in the vent system that mixes hot and cold air. Most of those are bad in 25 year old vehicles.

You probably have an air bubble in the system at the top of the motor. This is a common occurrence. If you do not have a bleeder valve on the top of the motor try driving the car up on to a set of ramps and filling your cooling system up some more. A lot of the motors have a bleeder at the top of the motor that you loosen and you just fill it up till it comes out of the bleeder and tighten it back up. If it doesn't have the bleeder pulling the car up on the ramps gets the radiator above the front of the motor and will force more coolant in to fill the air bubble up.
You may think this sounds foolish but it is true. I had to do it to me Mercury Sable every time I flushed the cooling system.
