1984 Jeep CJ7 will not start?

I cannot get my 1984 Jeep CJ7 (258 inline 6) to start. It will turn, and if I spray starter fluid in the carburetor it will fire, but will not stay on. I checked the fuel filter and it is clean. I pulled the hose from the carburetor side of the filter and cranked the engine, and gas spurted out, so the fuel pump is operating correctly. It's as if gas isn't making it through the carburetor - unfortunately I am not very savvy about carburetors, so before I go tearing it apart, I wanted to see if anyone had any ideas of what it could be.
 
Stuck float, tapp the float bowl with a wooden hammer handle (not to hard) that might get you going then you need to use some fuel conditioner etc.
