1981 xs650 yamaha starter grinding how to replair?

i have a 1981 xs650 yamaha the starter wants to grind. some times it misss it turn i was told to replace the starter bendix and that will fix it i need some help on how to do this one guy said its not hard to fix can any one help thanks to all

The bendix might do it but being so old; you might want to tear it down and check the teeth on the starter and your flywheel.
