1981 gs450 suzuki carb problems...?

ok my bike motor will start every time just about with the choke on well take it off it dies...so i take the cab apart and clean it i have the manual to it but cant get it right..it dies if u take it off choke...keep choke on run forever...take it off and nothen...then if i put my hand over the carbs itll try to start but wont...(and i put new gas in so its not bad gas) whats the problem and how can i fix it??
 
This is about the most typical problem with bikes that sit for awhile.

The carb has two jets, one is numbered 100+ and the other about 42. The long one with the 42 or something around that is plugged or has enough crud surrounding the very small hole in it that it wont let enough gas through.
Or the circuit that the small jet comes out of is plugged internally in the carb. Take it out, get a BRAND NEW JET the same size, and spray carb cleaner into the hole it came from until it comes out of the carb someplace else.

This has never failed me.
