1981 Ford Courier Dies when driven, Idles fine.?

Just recently filled the gas tank from near empty. Drove about 2 miles and shut it off. It sat less than ten minutes and then I restarted and drove about one mile and it bogged down (as if no power from engine) and died. I could get it started but it idled rough and had to be floored to go anywhere. Fast forward, I have replaced the fuel filter, air filter, cleaned the carburetor, cleaned the fuel pump, replaced the spark plugs and wires... to no avail. I don't believe in coincidence and find it quite interesting that this occured very shortly after refueling. The truck only has 90xxx on it, so it is still a pup.

Sounds like Fuel Filter may be clogged.. The gunk settles when the car is sitting, then gets pushed into the filter when you drive and gas can't get through..

Had the same problem on an old Chevy, which wound up being a bad pickup screen in the fuel tank. When the car sits the dirt disperses from the pickup, but gets grabbed up again when you start up. Dropping the tank and checking is your only option. Good luck.

If it was ran dry often it pulls a lot of junk [sediment and corrosion off the tank] which can block the jets of the carb or injection system. A good healthy dose of petrol treatment and running with some revs whilst stationary can clean it up.. Otherwise the carb needs stripping and cleaning.
