1980's remakes

So, just read here that "Private Benjamin" is going to be remade. As is Vacation, Police Academy, The A Team, and god knows what else.

Is this a good thing? I don't mind so much if they make sequels of classic movies, but straight remakes.... why?!!

Robocop - god knows why the original is just about perfect, also David Cronenberg plans a remake of his own remake of The Fly.

I'm so glad they decided to remake Clash Of The Titans. I'll definitely be buying this film when it gets released on DVD. I loved the original. I just hope this remake has enough thrill and enjoyment that the original did.

The thing is, doing a remake lets you see what the film would look like these days, rather, than way back then where the special effects were so basic.

A remake may not happen for some time because MGM, the studio which owns the rights to Robocop, is in the process of being sold. MGM has huge debts.

Me too I love the original. Nobody will go see it with me though in 3D:(

The worst film I have heard rumoured now for some time to be remade is 'Jaws'. First they were hoping to get RS back as Brody, though of cause that now is not possible. But I even heard recently on Radio1 that since 'Avator' Jaws is now being seriously considered again. It may be late 70's even but deserves a mention here as not a welcomed remake.
Please no not this one:mad:
