I have a 1980 kawi kz1000 and it wont start. I believe its the timing but these bikes have electronic timing, can this be adjusted? How much would it cost to just replace the timing box thing? i really like this bike and would like it better if it ran!

I agree with guardrail jim. If you aren't getting spark, check the main fuse. There's also a ballast resistor for the coils. On the street models it's under the left side cover. It's a ceramic rectangular object but you'll need a multi meter or test light to test it.

The timing cannot be adjusted.
Check for spark at the spark plugs.
If the plugs fire, don't be concerned with electrical problems.
Depending on how long the bike has sat without being run, the most common problem would be clogged jets in the carbs.
Clean the carbs - especially the pilot jets.
