1978 Jeep engine problem?

Hey I have a Jeep with an AMC 360 V8 and it turns over fine but It will not start unless i pour gas in the carb but it just dies after it burns off the gas poured in I checked the line going into the carb and gas is getting there so i really do not know what the problem is any ideas? thanks

Turn the engine over with the gas line dissconected and see if the fuel pump is working!!!!!!!, I would bet your fuel pump is not working......
