1977 Apache pop-up camper?

Last November I bought a 1977 Apache pop-up camper from a friend who needed the money. Well it's really nice inside from what I saw. It was barely used. The only problem is if won't crank up. My dad say he thinks the gears are stripped. Where can I go to find out what is wrong with it? I live in Michigan.
 
i have a 74 apache. I just got a new canvas for mine at this website. www.rvworkshop.com. talk to sherry or dale. they are in penn, but deal with canvasreplacements.com in Wiss. I am certian Sherry can help, if she doesn't have it she can help you find it. tell her jay from nc told you to call her. when you go to the website click on pop up replacement parts.

let me know how you turn out. and if i find another place to help i will let you know. what kind of apache do you have? this is very important.
