Where should i get the engine rebuilt, how much would it cost for a total rebuild, know the posible horse power from a 318 or any other information you could give me, mile per gallon.. etc. Thanks

An engine rebuilder near me advertises 318 non magnum engines for $995. That includes a 4 year/40,000 mile warranty. I'm not going to guess horsepower or mpg. There are too many possibilities of camshafts, valve sizes, compression ratios and carburetors. It depends what you want. Discuss these things with the rebuilder.

Wow. The 318 in 1971 could have been a beast. There are shops that will rebuild it but the cost is way more than you want to pay. A fun project would be to do it yourself. It will take a long time and parts will be hard to get. You can build it up to as high as 375 horsepower but you're going to suffer at the pump. A straight, clean, stock rebuild will yield a 230hp V-8. You can expect about 16 to 18 mpg. The 318 was an option in the Dart that year. There are few of them around today. Very few. If the body is clean and the underside is solid, you can build a real sweet street rod out of this thing.
