1966 Buick Skylark, I fear that a bigger motor would hurt!!!?

I had bought this 1966 Buick Skylark about 5 years ago. When I found it, it was sitting in the same spot it was placed, 3 years prior. After cutting out weeds and what not (hours of labor) and 5 years of patch work, I would love to get things rolling with a bigger engine, but I'm afraid that the frame might not hold! Is this a viable fear or am I just being paranoid. Mind you I still am learning about working on this car (or any car for that matter) and this is my first car. I'm in the military living in barracks, so space, time, and money are all rareties at the moment. I guess any kind of help at this point would be greatly appreciated!
 
yes the frame will support a bigger engine but the tranny and rear end may or may not you may need to upgrade those as well you can buy a brand new 455 big block for around $2600 at auto zone hope i helped
 
If your frame is not rusted , have at it , the Buick motors that were put in that car had ton's of torque and the frame was not the weak point ! The "sister" car to this , the Chevelle had a big block in it . I would be concerned about the u-joints and the rear end , replace the u-joints and cross your fingers that the rear will hold until you source a Chev. 12 bolt ( almost a straight swap ) or have a Ford 9 inch custom built ( $$$$$ ) . I had a '67 Skylark convertible as a teenager , great memories , cherish this car ! . Good luck , be safe , be proud , thank you for standing up for my freedom .
