hi, i'm a 14 year old with my first car, a convertible 1965 pontiac tempest. my father and grand father help me fix it and teach me mechanicle stuff.
right now the 326 ci engine is not starting. before we even tryed to start the car we replaced all of the spark plugs, plug wires, distributor cap, points and condenser. i am sure that the wires fit the right spot on the distributor cap, my grandpa and i did them 1 at a time. when we try to start the engine the starter weakly turns over the engine, it sounds like its about to roar, then the engine stops altogether and a big shake goes through the car.
does any1 no whats wrong with it?
we think it might just be flooded, we put a lot of gas in it.
or the piston rod might be broken.
or, my idea that one of the piston barrels might be siesed because when i took out the spark plugs one of them was full of hard stuff caked onto it.
i don't think the piston rod it broken because the last owner said she drove into the spot were she parked it, that was 6 years ago
