I purchased a 1962 Cadillac with the 390 cubic inch engine. It is leaking heavy amounts of water from the rear freeze plugs. (I am assuming that it has freeze plugs back there) I need to replace them but I don't know what size they are. My father says that the design of those freeze plugs for that particular engine are not like any other freeze plug in the market today. He described them as being shallow bowl shaped plugs that are hammered completely flat on to a slot in the engine. I don't know if my father is right or not although he could be since engine designs back then were really weird. What I want to know is if anyone knows what size those rear freeze plugs are (between the engine and transmission) so that I can have them on hand when I remove the engine?
