First of all, congrats on your sobriety!!! I have worked with in substance abuse recovery for seven years and I see how difficult recovery can be. Also, I had a serious health problem where I have having to use massive amounts of pain meRAB for over a year. I learned that, from my medical problem, being addicted to the pain killers wasn't something I even considered..... Until they stopped working and I needed a higher dose, thus my body had become addicted. I immediately told my doc and we got me on a taper schedule.
Have you tried exercise? I know it sounRAB simple, but I know that exercise can give you energy and also keep your mind off "other things." I only suggest it because if I can exercise anyone can. Good luck, REMAIN BUSY and never give up.

I have had a habit of abusing opiates mainly oxycontin and percocet for the past 4-5 years. So far I am 17 days clean. I have occaisonally took darvocet during the day especially the first week or so, and ativan at night to get some sleep. My main problems, if energy and lack of interest. I can't seem to make myself feel better. Any suggesstions.

You are awesome for being 17 days clean. Do not give up, keep going and soon the energy will kick in! I am going to start w/d tomorrow. i will be done with my pills today and am not buying any more. it has cost me so much money i am ashamed of how much i have spent on pills. i know it is going to be hard but i sure hope i make it to day 17 and then keep going. you are awesome, i will think of you as i start my recovery!!

Maria,

YOU ARE ALMOST THERE. Hang in there. You are so close to having the freedoms several of us dream about. When I did it ct, it was the third week when things were becoming clear and my energy was coming back. You will notice the grass looks greener, the sky looks bluer, you will notice the sounRAB that birRAB make. You will notice so many things that you couldn't notice when you were buzzed. I hope this make sense and I am so proud of you. What you have accomplished is so hard to do.

Take Care,
Loop

Hi Loop I just got on this site, read it a lot before I sign in LOL! Fear of the unknown but, read so many story's like my, first the doctors ect. I'm on day 7, I have made myself walk the last two days, but I was reading what you wrote a meraber and it give me a lot of hope. So I thank you for your knowledge of what we are going though, I can't think, fog, and confuses. I get a couple of hours a day that I can do things in the morning, than it hits me. I use the Thomas receipt I think it has help, but I can't wait to see the grass, clouRAB and the world as it once was
THE WORLD WILL NOT CARE WHAT WE KNOW UNTIL THEY KNOW THAT WE CARE
Thanks Kay

I had the same probelm when I was trying to kick the habit. something you may want to look into is provigil, I was recently prescribed this and it has really helped with the fatigue. I was skeptical at first but it actually really helped.....good luck.

Hi,
Here are some ideas to make withdrawal easier.
The drug clonidine (Catapress) helps to relieve symptoms of narcotic withdrawal, however it may lower the blood pressure, cause drowsiness or irritability.
Taking a sleep aid for several nights may help sleeping troubles.
Most withdrawal reactions disappear after 7 to 10 days, but weakness, insomnia, and anxiety may last for several months.
Relapse is always a problem , so a support groug with accountability and/or counseling
is important for one to be successful in overcoming addiction.
Suboxone (buprorphine/aloxone) is very good but one needes to be to under a Dr. care and ideally in a treatment facility, (initally). It can be addicting also, but with less potentias for dependency than regulat opoins (narcotics).
Hope you make it !!

there are many natural supplements that can help with fatigue--try to stay away from prescription fixes!! i would not even think about sub if you're 17 days clean. sub is a whole nuther monster and very difficult to stop. not to mention the price!! try a complete free-form amino blend with extra DLPA, tyrosine, glutamine, samE, multi-vitamin/mineral, 5htp, b-complex, b12, NADH, rhodiola, asian/korean panax ginseng, d-ribose, st. johns wort, malic acid, extra vit. c, and licorice. prescription stimulants like provigil and adderall are very addictive!

Congrats on 17 days. I am on day 5. I been using for about a year. I am starting to have more moments of normalcy (sp. or is that even a word?). My addiction broke me financially but before it started I was big on vitamins and herbs and have a bunch of stuff that I had bought but never used because I only took pills if they were opiates eventually.

L-Tryptophan - Helps me relax and slows down my mind a little. Nothing miraculous but I notice a little improvement after an hour or so after taking it. Helps with the anxiety.

N-Acetly-Carnitine - Seems to help with the anxiety issues a little too.

Health King Blood Pressure Tea - Lots of herbal relaxers. Again anxiety. The reason Im mentioning these anxiety helpers is because I find anxiety kills my energy levels.

B Complex - Energy. This is a big help. Got a sublingual formula.

St Johns Wort - No immediate help but Im reading it can help eventually for energy and depression. Different time frames for different people.

Congrats on your clean time. Thats a huge accomplishment. I pray I make it as long as you have.

Iam 25 days off 80mg OC's and 7 days off of suboxone. Sub takes longer to get of. Day 7 off Sub I still feel bad cannot work and am very cold especially my feet. I hope it does not last very long. I took Sub for about 18 days skipping 7 of those days. 8 mg 2x per day for 2 days and tapered down to 4mg per day the 7 days then quit. it has been hard. wish I knew how many days I have left feeling bad.

Maria, I looked under the sticky Home Detox and found alot of helpful tips to try for energy things alot of it is natural and vitamins, but made sense to me. They had alot of ideas how to feel better after wd. I am going to try this I hope it may help you and you have already come along way further than me so be proud of yourself. I am no way off of hydros I am trying tapering but I really want to this with all my heart. I am so proud of you. LOL Fiesty

Yeah congrats on bein clean, u stick at it it can be done as ur provin, i would recommend to others taperin down much further than 4mg bfore steppin off, i went down to 0.4mg of subutex before stopping completely but each to their own, every day gets easier but dont let ur addiction fool u an think u can go use your DOC again just once for old times sake cos that will drag u in chew u up an spit u out before u even realise youll be back where u started, sorry not tryin to preach just my personal experience happened to me a few times also go to NA an try it, wont do any harm an has done me the world of good keeps all the bad shit fresh in my mind, otherwise i tend to only remeraber the good bits then end up relapsing, !!

Please spell out worRAB so that people can read and understand what you are saying. This is not an sms message site or chat room. Many readers have difficulty understanding shorthand (u, r, ppl, cos, etc).

And watch your language on the BoarRAB!
