i have mild acne, havent gotten an initial breakout, or at least any new zits that i can attribute to accutane. have gotten dry lips and skin, but the skin isnt as dry as i was worried it would be. for those with mild acne, how long did it take for desireable results? thanks

just had 2nd appointment today to get accutane refill, everything going well, he increased my dosage from 1 40mg a day to 1 one day 2 the next and so on. will this speed up the process, and what should i expect from the increase?

I took Accutane eight years ago, and it worked a miracle for me, too. I'd always had good skin, and suddenly had a mess. Literally hundreRAB of zits on my face and back. It was awful.

I had dry hanRAB and lips, but didn't notice any other outward effects. The medicine made me depressed, though, and I wish I'd been warned. (They're doing a better job with warning about it now). The depression went away when I got off the medicine. And my skin is still fantastic today. If anything, taking the Accutane was better for me because it made me get into a moisturizing regimen and now I'm more likely to wear sunscreen.

I'm so sorry Accutane was bad for you--but for some of us, it's a lifesaver.

wow, 40mg per day is a lot . With the 4th week mark you should be results in any moment

Day 40, this is going by surprisingly fast, even though it hasnt even been 2 months yet.
so far my forehead is almost bump free, which was always my main problem to begin with. i frequently had a ton of microscopic bumps that were only visible when exposed to light and was completely self-conscious of it, and 40 days of accutane has almost completely gotten rid of this. feeling good so far, but i was wondering if anyone could answer my question.
if i havent had a major breakout 40 days into the treatment is there still a chance it could happen. thanks

everybody is different, but I broke out a little at first then a lot the second month and clear by the third month. I think for me it takes a while to get in the system and start working. Don't worry though, if your seeing positive results already, I think you will continue to see good results.

I just read that you upped the dose...that might change things. It is a possibility you might breakout, but I am not a Derm so....

is that really high? the derm said he was starting me off on a gentle doseage, maybe he meant that because he advised once every other day for the first week and then one a day beyond that?
however, i had a breakout on my forehead begining new years eve which i hope is the only initial breakout i get. they seem to have dried up a lot faster than normal and dont feel pressured anymore, i assume this is common?

40 mgs is not a high dose. i started out on that too for the first month then went up to 80 mgs a day. so no worries. i am 2 and a half months in and have seen a good inprovement but still get some acne. be patient tho, after your treatment you will look great

accutane worked a complete miracle for me about 4 years ago. I had facial cystic acne and pimples all over my legs, back, chest, and, yes, my butt. I had a horrible breakout during the first 3 months and then my acne cleared like magic. Seriously to anyone who didnt know that I was on accutane it would have appeared like a miracle of God. I must have had, no joke, 200 or so pimples on my back and about 400 on my legs and a smaller amount on my legs and face, though the facial ones were the biggest. I continued to improve in the months after treatment up till the point where I was roughly acne free. Now I get the occasional one or two in all the areas but I basically consider myself "cured." Id be more than happy to answer any questions about my personal experience with the drug.

Im 20 years and have been dealing with acne for several years. antibiotics worked for about a year and half along with different facial medicines. Lately though ive been having problems with my skin again. My doctor wants to put me on accutane to once and for all get rid of my acne because it is not very severe just annoying. Im alittle worried about starting the accutane because of the side effects. Most recently i've heard that accutane may cause birth deffects years after a woman is off of the medicine. I know doctors tell you that you have to wait a month or even 6 to be safe but new results are showing that it can cause it years later? i was wondering if anyone has heard of this or had any other information on it. im only 20 and i dont want kiRAB anytime soon but i do want them. i cannot imagine taking something that could possibly cause them birth deffects but i want my skin to be clear too. help!
