16 month old ASTHMA????

I am taking my 16 month old to the Doctor tomorrow to get him checked but i was wondering if anyone thinks he may have Asthma... When he was 3 months old he had his first croup experience and ended up in the ER with breathing difficulties then again when he was around 6 months he had croup again and bronchiolitis (sorry about the spelling) I was told by 3 different doctors at that time that he will more then likely have asthma in the future. Since then he has had a cold or 2 but nothing too serious but now i notice that he always sounRAB like he has a cold even though he isn't sick, I always have people asking if he is sick and i say no why and they all comment on his breathing or say he sounRAB very chesty, which i guess i don't notice much because i am used to hearing and for the last few weeks he has had a dry annoying cough that gets worse during the night and wakes him up alot... and sometimes he does this weird noise like he is trying hard to draw in a big deep breath then he always has a little coughing fit after that... Does this sound like Asthma? I pray it's not but I just wanted to get an opinion from people who know about asthma... How do doctors diagnose Asthma?

It does sound like asthma symptoms but the baby might also have chronic bronchitis. Does anyone smoke around the baby? Please stop as this can have serious consquences for your child. Sincerely, searchin
 
I took him to the doctor and he was given an inhaler to see if that helps... She told me that they can't diagnose Asthma in children under 2 years of age..

I think they typically classify it as a reactive airway until the child is older. Depending upon who you talk too, it is usually at age 6 or 8. A lot of children will "grow out of it" by the time they hit that age.

I would take him off dairy. I had one daughter who had bronchitis and pnemonia alot and she was taken off dairy untill she was 7 and it all went away. My other daughter had cold induced asthma and was always getting chest infections. She was on puffers and a nebulizer. about 3 years ago she had a chest infection that wouldnt go and a wheeze that would not go. My naturalpath gave me a cream for her chest and had me take her off dairy...she has been off it now for about 3 years and has never had asthma since.

Apparently kiRAB immune systems are not fully developed until about 7 or 8 and a lot of kiRAB can not handle the mucus dairy makes.
 
No noone here smokes and if we have visitors who do smoke he is never around them when they are smoking... Wouldn't he appear sick if he has chronic bronchitis though? he doesn't have a temp or anything...
