15 month daughter not sleeping well, rubbing her ears, and not eating well.?

My 15 month daughter is waking up at least 4 times a night with an instance screaming cry. When my husband or I go to her room, she is always sitting up or standing up. She is rubbing her ears or puting her fingers in her ears, not so much pulling on them. I had her ears checked yesterday by the doctor and they said her ears were a little red inside when she was laying down, but they think that was because she was crying, they said when she was upright and stopped crying they looked fine. Any suggestions as to what I should proceed with? Second opinion maybe by an ENT?
She also had an ear infection mid July and a double ear infection at the end of August.
 
it does sound like an ear infection. the dr said the ears were slightly red, the symptoms match, yet they didnt do anything? did they offer a follow-up appt or ask you to "keep an eye on it and call for an appt."? I'd get things checked out again before it gets worse. I hope she feels better soon
 
Sounds like teething... ears are often affected during the teething phase since the jaw is very close to the ears. Our daughte at 15 months started teething again and ended up with a double ear infection. Did your Dr. look in her mouth to check for irritated gums and new teeth coming in? I really think it's that too since she's not eating well which could be because her gums are swollen. Maybe go back to the Dr. and have her look insider mouth or you try to if you can and stick your fingers on her gums and put slight pressure on them and see if she reacts to it. Just a thought... Do you give her Tylenol? If so, I would give it to her too to help her with the pain with whatever dose your Dr. tells you to give her.
 
I just know that from my experience with my son when he was a baby,when he pulled on his ears,I knew that he was developing an ear infection.It's one of the signs that they do when they are experiencing pain.It might be a good idea to go to someone else and get a second opinion if this seems to continue with your baby girl.Just my thoughts.
 
Well it is possible to get another ear infection close to the 1st one. My 2 yr old daughter had 2 ear infections back to back and they lasted for a while. Also your baby may be getting more teeth in and that's why she won't eat, is waking up crying, and is messing with her ears. When she lays down, gravity puts pressure on her ears, which will make them hurt worse, so that's why she would have red ears and have trouble sleeping too.
